DINET: THE LOGISTICS CHALLENGE IS TO BECOME A LEAN LOGISTICS COMPANY

“87% of companies in Latin America that hire logistics operations, currently value an appropriate service level”, declared Luis Miguel Maldonado, Dinet’s General Manager, during his participation in the panel: From Service Providers to Supply Chain Integrators, during the first PROMPERU-GS1-APROLOG Logistics Services Convention.

Regarding logistics dynamics, there is a trend that consists in concentrating operators, because there is no need for so many players in the chain. “60% of the companies that hired logistics operators in the world in 2010, reduced one or three operators to optimize competitiveness”, said Luis Miguel Maldonado.

“We have to understand the client’s market. The client is not acting alone in the market, but is impacted by globalization and can go out woldwide. And the logistics operator must be able to respond to this in a changing world”, he said.

The challenge for logistics operators, said Luis Miguel Maldonado, is to build and become a lean logistics operators, which means that the companies to which the service is provided allow participation in their planning and decision making processes.
