DINET offers its clients customized logistics solutions

For 25 years DINET has developed customized logistics solutions according to its client’s needs, which have allowed it to become a leader in its industry. Esteban Vargas, the company’s Operations Manager, gave an interview to MINERIA & ENERGIA to explain the company’s forecast and the technology that is being applied in the mining sector.

As a logistics operator, how many years does Dinet have in the Peruvian market?

DINET was founded in 1991 and it is a logistics operator with more than 25 years of experience. Its commercial focus is to develop customized logistics solutions for its clients, who recognize this work through world-class management indicators. 90% of Dinet’s portfolio are multinational companies. Since 2007 Dinet’s growth has multiplied by 7.It is the second biggest integrated 3PL company and has a high growth in Peru, offering integrated logistics to multinational companies mainly.

What are the services offered to clients?

Dinet offers a large scope of logistics services throughout our clients supply chain, such as: Customs Brokerage, Transit Warehouse, Temporary Deposit, Warehousing, Packing Center, Cross Docking, E-Fulfillment and Land Transportation. It also offers Mineral Deposit Administration, Mineral Hauling, HAZMAT-IQBF (Controled Chemical Inputs and Goods), Specialized Transportation, Overload Cargo Transportation, Mineral Transportation and Regular Load Transportation.

What are the logistics services offered to mining companies?

For the mining and construction industry we offer specifically land transportation, by transporting material on the surface or underground for our mining and construction clients. In terms of mineral hauling we upload/download mineral underground or on the surface and transport it to the concentrator plant/dams in the mining operation. For mineral deposit management we have modern machinery and highly qualified personnel, for appropriate deposit management.

For mineral deposit administration we have modern machinery and highly trained personnel for appropriate deposit management, HAZMAT transportation, IQBF in platforms with container or lateral door trailers for efficient material load and unload, oversized cargo in platforms or low-beds and concentrate in encapsulated hoppers, as well as for customs brokerage and transit warehousing.

What are the industrial sectors that demand your services the most?

Dinet caters to the Retail, Consumption and Mining industries mainly.

What kind of technology are you applying to the mining industry?

Currently Dinet has developed for the mining sector a mining operation Management Software. The application controls online or batch operations seeking to maximize logistics services resources’ productivity, in order to generate more efficiency for the client. The application offers also better operations visibility and traceability, facilitating service management on the clients’ side and the logistics operator’s side. Finally the company seeks to permanently automate outsourced processes by the client, in order to fill technology gaps in Logistics Services applied to the mining sector.

In what important events has the company participated this year?

It has participated in some important events in the Retail, Consumption, Durable Goods, and Mining Industries, such as: Seminarium Retail, EXPOMINA 2016, in which Dinet participated as a Gold Sponsor. It also presented a technical conference on “Innovation in Mining Sector Transportation”. The company participated in the Logistics and Supply Forum with: “Cost Reduction and Informality: Current Perspective -, as a panelist along with other industry companies. In the 2016 Innovation Day (Mexico) International Event we presented: “Dinet Peru: A 3PL that accompanies their clients to fulfill their goals in a changing and challenging environment”. And this month the company will be in Expogestion XXI 2016 International Logistics and Supply Chain Forum, as a Platinum Sponsor.

What are Dinet’s perspectives for 2017? Will one of its perspective be internationalization?

Dinet’s perspectives for 2017 are to implement and consolidate contracts in the Mining and Retail industry, won in 2015 and 2016. It is also to continue developing new clients to use some inactive capacities in Villa El Salvador and Huachipa, which is our main focus. We will also continue developing our E-Commerce service for our portfolio clients and we will continue developing technology solutions. Dinet’s forecast is to grow more in 2017 than in 2014, year in which we had a 12% growth. Regarding internationalization, this is a pending project for the company and we are always evaluating the best moment to implement it. This will probably be in 2018 and 2019 and the countries to be evaluated are those where our clients currently have their own as well as outsourced logistics operations.
