FLEXIBILITY, AN ALLY FOR LOGISTIC SERVICES

By Jorge Pérez - Comercial Manager at Dinet

Regarding how to achieve an appropriate and successful logistics plan in our country, Jorge Perez, Dinet’s Commercial Manager, explains that knowing the client is very important, however what is essential in this kind of service is to be flexible.

“For appropriate logistics chain planning and implementation, it is important to have appropriate information regarding the needs of current and potential clients. In mining logistics, flexibility plays a very important role, especially for transportation activities, this is why demand planning is vital”, he explains.

Regarding ore concentrate transportation, the executive argues that given the complexity of the communities and influence areas, it is necessary to include personnel from the communities in the executed activities. “This is necessary but only if they match the job’s requirements, for which one can also fill in some gaps through appropriate training. This allows the community to identify and accept of the company”, reveals Jorge Perez.

El Gerente Comercial de Dinet comenta que uno de los servicios que cuentan con mayor demanda por parte de las empresas del sector minero es el de transporte de materiales peligrosos.

“This service includes ore concentrate transportation, merchandise consolidation and mining inputs transit warehousing”, says Jorge Perez.

He also referred to the role of our country in terms of logistics and supply chain, compared to other countries in the region and highlighted that in Peru logistics costs are higher. “It is quite well known that in Peru logistics costs represent up to 34% of a product’s value, while in other countries of the region they are between 15% and 20% (Chile-Colombia). This overcost is partly explained by our country’s infrastructure breach, calculated at US$ 88,000 million in 2013”, says Jorge Perez.

Finally, Perez said that Dinet is thriving to consolidate in the mining sector, besides expanding to and diversifying in the hydrocarbon and energy sectors. “Likewise, we will accompany our retail industry clients in the country’s expected future growth”, finalized Perez.
