Outsourcing logistics reduces retailers costs by 6%, according to Dinet
The logistics operator has shifted its focus from primarily B2B deliveries to serving end consumers.
Retail companies reduce their costs by 6% by outsourcing their logistics operations, according to a study conducted by Dinet. One of the main reasons is that these companies don't have to assume the increased hiring of personnel, vehicles, or space required to handle marketing campaigns or specific seasons, explained Esteban Vargas, central operations manager of the logistics operator.
At the same time, Dinet is undergoing a transformation of its operations to meet the new demands of retailers: it will shift its focus from primarily B2B deliveries to serving end consumers. "We have gone from large-volume deliveries to [a growing portion of] deliveries that average two to three units," explained its general manager, Luis Maldonado.
Dinet plans to allocate more than S/1 million to develop its business line focused on e-commerce and last-mile delivery support. The operator has the funds to make these investments due to the trend among logistics companies to lease land for their warehouses rather than purchase it.
